Thinking of New Year’s Resolutions

Noticing: over_spending
Warning: Overload…❌

December first. Already! My year felt short because I spent the first few months of 2025 battling illness and recovering.

Summer was good :-] I welcomed the heat and enjoyed those bright, sunny days so, so much! But, now the cold has come to stay (for many months where I live), so I’m shifting my mindset along with my wardrobe.

I’m thinking of New Year’s Resolutions for 2026. My biggest one this year is: a no-buy year.

I’ve been reflecting on all the little purchases I made throughout the year. I didn’t think much of them at first, because it was only a few dollars here, a few there. But it really added up.

💎

I hadn’t saved as much as I had hoped in 2025, and I also had more clutter in my home than I cared for. Even my young son had way too many toys, a lot of which he didn’t care to play with.

We had fallen into a bad habit of shopping for fun, especially when it was too hot to go to a park. The sun is nice when it hits the playground straight-on in the winter, but in the summer, it can be brutal.

So, we’ll have to get a bit creative and find new ways to spend our days together. And actually, I think it will be much better to think of activities we can do together, as opposed to just shopping or running errands all the time.

For 2026, I’m going to be much more careful with my spending.

Are you a resolutions type person, or are you perfect just the way you are? ;-]

Take care,
Dear Quiet

I don’t make resolutions as I would never keep them. I have a habit of wanting to buy stuff but unlike my husband who buys stuff for himself I usually buy stuff for other people which is why I have two gift boxes that are overflowing with gifts for my family, that I need to dig out and make a list of what I have and who the stuff s for.

Resolutions can be so hard to keep. But hey, sounds like you’re all set for Christmas then!

My New Year’s resolution is to walk a path of great purpose, stopping now and then to squint near-sighted at where I might be headed…
