My Summer Arc From Chaos to Clarity

I haven’t blogged in almost 2 months.

That’s because the beginning of the summer started rough. I won’t go into detail, mostly because I feel like this is partly not my story to tell. But after my stepfather passed away (expectedly), my mother in law passed away a few weeks later (unexpectedly).

It was a very difficult time for us. Very, very difficult. She was a wonderful woman and the situation left me with a deep sense of unfairness.

While we went through grief, I stepped back from blogging, from everything.

That was the beginning of summer.

💎

I decided to step back from any unnecessary activities, so I’ve been quiet, spending time at home. Spending time with family.

Thinking.

Things have settled down a bit. My family is doing well. My husband, my son, and myself… we’re healthy and well. We’re blessed.

If there could be a word to represent the second half of the summer, I suppose it wouldn’t be clarity. It would be acceptance.

It has been a summer of acceptance for me:

  • accepting that some people in my old family are never going to change.
  • accepting everything that happened, the funerals attended and unattended.
  • accepting my age, my limitations.
  • accepting God’s sovereignty.
  • accepting my life, fully, as-is.

And acceptance is such a beautiful thing.

💎

Acceptance is right there with surrender, and that is where I find myself today.

So I’m blogging again.

For now, I don’t have the comments open on my blog. It just feels rude to have my comments open when I know I won’t have time to reply, and I also don’t have time to read other blogs.

I’m blogging, but I’m also focusing on life, on rebuilding something essential that I feel I lost at that rough start of summer.

And I’m focusing on transitioning to a more positive way of blogging ~ because frankly, I think I’ve been trauma-dumping and bringing everyone down! x-[ That was not my intention when I started Dear Quiet.

I hope that your summer was much better than mine. I hope that you got to enjoy the warmer weather, the relaxation, and the joy that can be summer.

I hope you’re doing well :-]

Take care,
Dear Quiet
