Dear Quiet

It would be too easy to say “my family,” because truly, they are my favorite people to be around! So, I’ll speak about a group of people who blew my mind by being who they are.

I wasn’t a Christian in my teens, twenties, and even most of my thirties. That’s just not how I was raised. I also wasn’t raised to have any sort of discernment about who I let into my life.

Fast forward to my late 30’s. I became a Christian and I joined a church. I also joined a women’s group (my very first!).

All the ladies were pleasant and nice, and we had a good time. One of the ladies had to leave early. After sharing many personal details throughout our meeting… she leaves.

I couldn’t believe what happened next.

Nothing.

Nothing happened! There was no gossip, no talking about her. The only time she was mentioned again in our meeting was at the end, when we prayed for everyone.

If you’ve always had good friends, you might be thinking, “duh!” But for me, who had always struggled with friendships, this really blew my mind.

The women that I’ve met at church have all been kind, gracious, and really, really good friends.

They truly are my favorite people to be around, after my family :-] And actually, they are like family!

PS:

I understand this may not be everyone’s church experience, but it was mine. If you’re having a difficult church experience… please look for another church. You wouldn’t stop eating just because of a bad restaurant experience, right? You’d just try a different restaurant or different food.

Some churches are not appropriate places of worship because of corruption, bad attitudes, or simply because we are all sinners, and people can unfortunately misbehave and hurt others.

But that’s not true of all churches. It’s not true of most churches.

You can find a healthy church :-] Don’t give up!
